About The Campaign
Elizabeth & Jennie
Founders of the annual BHTP Campaign
After the inaugural campaign in 2006, the BHTP concept quickly became a favorite among women who have an interest in helping increase awareness for ovarian cancer. Elizabeth and Jennie were counting on a simple strategy, which is at the core of the campaign - “Many voices speaking in unison make for a louder message.” They are growing ovarian cancer awareness by working within the framework that is already established in the field. Jennie says, “We wanted to create something that could benefit the existing structure of ovarian cancer awareness. We feel that the BHTP campaign offers us a great opportunity to reach groups of women across the country, at the same time, by using the target date of the Saturday before Mothers’ Day. The potential exists for us to be able to raise awareness exponentially each year. This campaign takes all of our individual voices, combines them, and continually adds voices, so that the message gets louder and louder!” Indeed, with its catch phrases, “Help bring women into the circle of awareness” and “Let’s stir up the chatter on ovarian cancer awareness,” Blue Hydrangea Tea Party™ continues on its mission to help spread the ovarian cancer awareness message. Elizabeth says, “I hope to one day see all of the states across the country involved with the BHTP campaign. It’s definitely a goal for us! We are always looking to include areas of the country that haven’t heard about the concept.”
